These 3 Habits are Stopping You From Reaching Your Goals.

So you want to finally achieve those long awaited goals, whether it be to start your own business, move on to the next step in your relationship, or as simple as drink 3 liters of water everyday. You feel like you have tried so hard, but you are not getting any closer to your goal. I'm going to share with you the 3 common bad habits that we consciously or sub consciously do everyday that stops us from achieving our goals, and how to overcome them.

Before I get into it, I just want to say before moving on, be completely certain of your goal and what actions you need to do to stand behind it. Most of the time, we are "half-sure" of our goal, and don't really know what to do to actually achieve it.

You need to be 100% certain of your goal and the steps you need to take to actually accomplish it. You need to have a full understanding of how accomplishing this goal will change your life, and how you will feel knowing that you have put in the effort and finally accomplished it. Now, once you clearly defined for yourself your goal(s) and feel like you are not getting any closer, you may be subconsciously driving yourself further away. Now lets fix that! :)


Overthinking

We all at some point tend to overthink our actions, future decisions, etc, whether we realize it or not. I can simply say that overthinking is not our friend, it is healthy to analyze decisions but there is a very fine line between analyzing and overthinking. Overthinking is when your mind is talking non stop and you're playing out all possible scenarios of what could happen when you take an action, or don't. You're thinking about it non stop, and all the time you have spent thinking you could have spent taking action and furthering yourself. I have to admit, time to time I do catch myself overthinking things, mainly relating to things out of my control. Instead of focusing on things that we cant control, such as what other people might say or think, we should focus on what we can control. We can control our actions, our thoughts, and the final decisions that lead us to becoming closer to our goals! :)

There is no magic cure to help stop us from overthinking - haha I wish!! There is however, things that we can do to prevent this from even happening.

  • Have confidence in your decisions and within yourself, - tune out what is out of your control and focus on the solution, instead of the problem.

  • Stop looking for outside validation. This is similar to the previous point, which all relates back to being confident in your choices and yourself of course. Dont always expect someone to compliment what you're doing, or even acknowledge that you are doing anything. Find peace within yourself to make decisions and do things that you are happy with and confident in.

  • Be mindful of your thoughts. So you may have caught yourself overthinking, and that is the first step to clarity. Stop and think 'why am I even overthinking in the first place?' After you do this you will probably realize it was for a silly reason, and you just wasted a whole lot of time focused on something that is probably not even worth thinking about.


Waiting for Motivation

Ever heard the saying "Are you waiting for an invitation or something" - haha this is exactly what that relates to! Literally. Let me be the one who says it but "What are you waiting for??"

This can be one of the biggest reason why you cant reach your goal, Motivation. - or should I say lack thereof!! To help you identify if this is you- Do you usually say "I'll do it tomorrow," but tomorrow never happens. Then I'm sorry my friend but you have fallen victim to lack of motivation, but it's okay! We can fix that. First, you need to know that you are NOT going to be motivated everyday. You are not going to be motivated everyday to workout, to work on your website for the launch of your business, or read that self development book. You first need to come into acceptance with that. No one is feeling their best all day everyday and getting all the work done and accomplishing all their goals. The people who are successful realize that, and know how to push through the lack of motivation on some days, and take advantage on the high motivation days. The universe is not just going to splash motivation on top of your head if you are sitting around uninspired.

  • The one simple way you can ignite motivation is to go back to your "WHY." Think about your goals, and realize that Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will your business or that six pack. Your WHY for setting that goal, once reflecting should push you further past any mental block and rev you up to take action. It could be as small as researching how to make that website even more user friendly, or taking a 30 minute walk. Any action is better than nothing.


Procrastination

Yes, I said it. The oh, so dreaded procrastination. Its hard not to fall victim to procrastination, we have so many distractions surrounding us, or a better way to say it - outside noise. The outside noise of the easy use of social media, endless timelines to scroll through, too many Netflix shows to watch, and maybe even too much online shopping to do. (Who else has been using their Amazon Prime membership more than ever now?!!) Alot of us would rather scroll through Instagram endlessly, watching stories, instead of doing something that would actually bring us somewhere in life. While scrolling through do you sometimes have a message in the back of your mind saying, "I should go do a workout, make dinner, do some research or even read a book." I hope I'm not the only one, haha. Then once we finally actually get up to go and do something you realize about 45 minutes have passed, and that "time flies." Don't worry you're not alone. If you think about it, how close would you be to your goal right now if there was no outside noise/distractions? As humans we want to do things that feel comfortable, and require not much effort or mind power to do (such as scrolling through Instagram or online shopping) In our mind we know that we should be doing something else, but we still continue to do the "easy/comfortable" thing. Its the action of being comfortable with doing the uncomfortable is where we can truly see ourselves evolve and progress. Procrastination is kind of our enemy, but we are going to make it our b* :) haha.

  • The cure for procrastination, I would say it to make peace with it. How cliche, I know!! But its true. You will have to accept the fact that procrastination could be your biggest obstacle, usually the reason we procrastinate:

1. Laziness

2. Don't know what to do/ no defined plan

3. No motivation.


Its not easy to filter out the outside noise, but once you figure out why you would rather scroll through social media, instead of being "productive," then you are on the right path to conquering procrastination. Obviously, you are not going to achieve your goals overnight, but if you clearly define for yourself what you want, and what you need to do to achieve those goals, then you should let NOTHING stand in your way.



We all need to build our mental resistance muscle, just like those biceps, they are not going to become huge overnight, but with consistent training and dedication, it grows. To train our mind is one of the greatest things we can do to help us achieve our goals, the better you get at that, the easier it will be for you to achieve anything you want in life.

As I said before, this isn't a do it overnight thing. It takes time and dedication, consistency is key. Now lets define our goals, take action, and stop procrastinating together day by day!!
